Yildiz Çakar, born in1978, is a poet, writer, playwright. She is also a founding member and was one of co-chair of the Kurdish Writers' Association. She worked as correspondent and editor for Kurdish newspapers. She writes in Kurmanji dialect of Kurdish. Her poems mainly explore feelings of death, exile and nothingness. She has 3 published novels and the common thing in all her novels is that the main characters are women and she fictionalizes a Kurdish tale and the main subject in parallel. Her first novel, Guernica Whirlpool, focuses on the story of a family which was attacked by Islamist extremes in a Kurdish city of Turkey during 90's. It is about the lives of displaced people in the spiral of violence and their inability to hold on to the places they migrated. Her second novel, This Way Doesn't Lead to Paradies, focuses on the stories of kidnapped women of Ezidi's minority by ISIS in South Kurdistan. Her third novel, Hangar Fünf, is about road stories of refugees from different countries who came accros during crossing borders to Europe and their next experiences.
She is actually writing her 4th novel called "Dreamseller".
