C. A. Saltoris

C. A. Saltoris was born in Rio de Janeiro, but has lived in Germany since her teens. Saltoris is a journalist, actress and theater director, and enjoys making cosplays out of her own novel characters. She has been writing prose since childhood and is known for her jokes and inability to take herself seriously. And could always make jokes out of the stories she writes, but the truth is that she creates worlds to paint colors into the darkness that inhabits ours.

What brought you to Berlin? Love? World politics? Or was it a coincidence?

Berlin is a city where you don't feel left out as an artist. It is a cosmopolitan city, colorful and full of life; and of course, my then boyfriend, now husband, lived here and I in Hamburg when we got together, and even though I love the Hanseatic city with all my heart, the decision of who moves where was clear very quickly.

The variety, of everything. Especially food!

The ocean.

The Holzmarkt.

Would you say you are a different person in Berlin? A different translator? And if yes, in what way?

Actually, I've gotten closer to my homeland and my roots since I've been living in Berlin. Berlin has this magic: it allows you to be yourself. That is something very special.
