Vladimir Nabokov
Pnin
(Roman); Aus dem Russischen von Dieter E. Zimmer, rororo 1999

Vladimir Nabokov's "Pnin" is my favorite book in the universe. It's Nabokov at his most tender and most humane, not to mention at his funniest. There's also a chapter dealing with the Holocaust that appears out of nowhere but has moved me to tears like few other books on the subject have. And it's about immigrants! I love immigrants!
